Adapter allows the Eibach 883 Series
spring to fit the 1996-up Suzuki DR650
The stock DR650
rear spring rate is 6.5kg/mm and is too soft for even the lightest
riders offroad. The 883
series springs are available in 6.7kg/mm, 7.2kg/mm, 7.6kg/mm, 8.1kg/mm
and 8.4kg/mm rates. The billet aluminum adapter resizes the lower spring
holder and allows the use of the smaller diameter 883 series springs that
can be purchased in the heavier rates. Kit price (spring & adapter)
is $140.00. Adapter only $30.00

Installation Instructions
1. Raise the motorcycle with a bike
stand, milk crate, etc., so the rear wheel is slightly off the ground.
Remove the two 19 mm nuts that hold the links to the rocker and the swingarm.
Push the bolts out and remove both links. Remove the lower shock
mounting bolt.
2. After loosening the top spring
preload JAM NUT, turn it counterclockwise all the way to the top
of the shock threads. Lube the remaining nut and shock threads, grasp the
bottom of the shock and turn the nut loose by turning the spring, nut and
all.
3. After loosening the preload all
the way, push the spring, collar, and the spring retainer up as far as
possible and remove the spring retainer out the side. The collar and spring
can now be removed off the bottom of the shock. (The swingarm has to be
raised to allow room for the spring to drop out the bottom and the rocker
may have to be removed for added space.)
4. Install the 883 series spring,
install the adapter (leave stock inner collar off) with the inside of the
spring side facing up and install the stock retainer. Tighten the preload
nut until the spring is preloaded approx. 12mm (1/2 inch.)
5. Replace the lower shock mounting
bolt in the "UPPER" shock mounting hole and replace the links.
6. Set the sag (amount of vertical
movement of the rear axle from "no weight" to "bike weight" plus rider
weight) at 3 inches. From our experiences, setting the sag between 2.5
inches and 3.5 inches with the shock in the upper mounting hole worked
the best all around. If the lower shock mounting hole is used, then
set the sag at 100mm/3.9" to maintain the stock geometry if preferred.
